Stacy Schaus is currently Founder and CEO of the Schaus Group LLC, an independent consulting firm dedicated to serving retirement plan fiduciaries. She is also the Chair of the Employee Benefit Research Institute and an editorial board member for the Journal of Retirement and Retirement Management Journal.
Previously, Ms. Schaus was an Executive Vice President at PIMCO where she launched the Defined Contribution Practice. She also served as a fiduciary on both the investment and administrative committees for the Allianz Asset Management of America L.P. 401k Savings and Retirement Plan.
While at PIMCO, Ms. Schaus helped drive the custom target-date strategy movement (over $430 billion U.S. AUM industrywide), including publishing a book on Designing Successful Target-Date Strategies (Wiley 2010), running national campaigns, and founding the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association to bring together professionals with a shared objective of improving retirement security.
Prior to joining PIMCO, she was a partner at Hewitt Associates and the founder and president of Hewitt Financial Services, which included leading the defined contribution investment consulting and research as well as brokerage, mutual fund, and personal finance areas. She began her career at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets.
Ms. Schaus holds an MBA in Finance/International Business from the Stern School of Business at New York University and an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is a Certified Financial Planner professional. She has published 11 books on defined contribution and investment management, including Successful Defined Contribution Investment Design (Wiley 2017).
